About The Position
The duties for the Forensic Scientist III position in the Latent Print Unit will include analysis, comparison, and evaluation of complex latent print evidence and the examination, development, and preservation of latent prints on submitted evidence. Duties will also include writing detailed reports and testifying to the methods used and the conclusions reached and conducting the evaluation and quality review of analytical results and reports. May also assist in the training of latent print examiners and on rare occasions provide technical assistance and expertise at major crime scenes.

Selection Process
Applicants whose education, training and experience most closely meet the needs of the position may be invited to participate in a selection process to include a panel interview. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include:

Motor Vehicle Department Records Check
Drug Screening
Physical Examination
Psychological Testing
Background Investigation to include Polygraph
Education and Experience

A Bachelor's Degree in a physical or natural science from an accredited educational institution, with a minimum of 20 semester hours of chemistry related coursework. (A copy of your transcript(s) is required with your application.)
Must have eight years of experience as a forensics examiner in a crime laboratory.
Must have a working expertise in one forensic discipline.
An equivalent combination of education and job related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience in both the latent print comparative and latent print development/photography disciplines.
Knowledge and experience with an Automated Fingerprint Identification System.
Currently an International Association for Identification Certified Latent Print Examiner.

Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted Arizona driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date.

Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on department/section assignment.
